Hello Tech readers,
for our next meetup, we will explore one of China’s most fascinating technology businesses: Alibaba. Alibaba was founded in 1999 and has become one of the largest and most valuable tech companies worldwide. It’s a sprawling business that covers almost every aspect of commerce you can think of, from consumer-to-consumer sales to its own payment system that’s ubiquitous in China. Its founder Jack Ma is a former English teacher.
In his book “Alibaba: The House That Jack Ma Built”, Duncan Clark shows Alibaba’s rise and its significance in today’s China.
You can read more about the book here: and order through the links at the bottom of that page - or support your local book dealer!
We look forward to discussing this book and China’s tech sector with you. We will announce the exact place of this month’s meetup once we have it confirmed. Let us know if you have any questions or comments!
See you soon, Julia and Jessica
