Flash crashes, programming bugs, and other errors

If we do not have the time to meet before this date, I am reserving this topic for our before-the-Xmas meeting. Discussion of the "best approach and practice to making / programming algorithms"; but as always, the discussion can wander around significantly, depending on your own feedback, so bring your own opinion with you! :) I will be updating some relevant material here to fire it up, and potentially demonstrating some results with the data I mentioned in our Nov-Initialization meeting.
