The relayr IoT innovation lab is running a series of training events aimed at developers curious about IoT technologies. In this workshop we will explore long range IoT networks using LoRa™ radio technology.
Conventional wireless communication over large distances has been reserved for operators with a radio spectrum license. The advent of Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) radio technologies such as LoRa™ - Long Range - changed this and enabled any organization to inexpensively implement their own wide-area network infrastructure operating in the unlicensed sub-GHz radio band (ISM).
At the end of the workshop you should be able to understand the basics of the LoRa radio technology and the LoRaWAN protocol. You’ll program a sensor node, configure a LoRaWAN network and aggregate sensor readings on the relayr platform via MQTT. All this will provide you with a good understanding of the pros and cons of Low-Power Wide-Area Networks, as well as their usefulness for your IoT deployments.
