For our February talk, H/F Berlin will be joined by Point 9 Capital´s, Rodrigo Martinez. He will focus on raising money, as well as the DOs and DONTs for early-stage deep-tech startups.
Point Nine Capital (http://www.pointninecap.com) is a Berlin-based venture capital firm focused exclusively on early-stage Internet investments in areas like Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), online marketplaces and mobile. They have invested in companies all over the globe and have quite an impressive portfolio. Some of these include Zendesk, Delivery Hero, Couchsurfing, Fyber, and many many more!
Rodrigo joined the team after finishing his MBA at London Business School in 2013. Before that, he was a Summer Associate at Index Ventures in London and worked as a Senior Strategy Consultant at PwC in Madrid.
Rodrigo will discuss the following topics.. a) What is "Deeper tech"? --> companies where there's "technology risk" Basically, there is uncertainty if the product can be built at all, in order to deliver the value proposition
b) Common mistakes of techie founders? --> not being customer centric -->hiring "a biz guy" -->waiting for the "big launch" -->falling in love with the technology.. not the problem you're trying to solve
c) How to raise money for deeper tech businesses --> reduce the surface of the problem you solve. That doesn't mean you compromise on your vision, you just need to make sure that you can prove that customers want what you're solving.
Rodrigo will present these insights for deeper tech startups at "The Earlybird", located in Axel Springer´s building in Mitte. We will have limited space for this intriguing talk, so make sure to RSVP as soon as possible! As usual, this will be followed by networking and drinks provided by The Earlybird!
See you Soon! H/F Berlin Team
