Sanoma, Töölönlahdenkatu 2, Helsinki
We are delighted to invite you to the next Helsinki Data Science Meetup taking place at Sanoma, Töölönlahdenkatu 2, Helsinki, on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
We are truly excited to have Tom Betts, the Chief Data Officer of the Financial Times, join us as Guest Speaker. The ongoing evolution of technology and global internet connectivity has completely transformed media consumption. News organizations have needed to adapt to the changing demands of consumers. This has required rethinking not only editorial coverage but also the overhaul of newspaper business models. Tom will explain what is behind the FT's digital growth, and how customer data has both informed this transition and created new growth opportunities.
Following Tom, Hugo Gävert, the Head of Consumer Data and Analytics of Sanoma, will discuss the role of the Data Scientist against the backdrop of the rise of Artificial Intelligence. Machine learning is making AI sophisticated, but as machines gets smarter, will it eventually make Data Scientists obsolete? What happens to the sexiest job of the 21st century?
The agenda is as follows:
17:30-18:00 Networking and snacks, welcome words
18:00-18:45 Tom Betts, Chief Data Officer, FT. Disrupting news: How Big Data is transforming the future of news and media
