Springer Nature, Heidelberger Platz 3, Berlin
Continuing the series of bigger meetups, please join us to talk about Akka HTTP.
Josep Prat from Springer Nature presents how they use Akka HTTP to build new applications that need to deal with streams of data coming from different various services. Akka HTTP is the streaming-first HTTP server/module of Akka, it is the successor of Spray and it is build on top of Reactive Streams, enabling asynchronous streaming and with already built-in Back-pressure. It is ideal to be used on high load Web services or services that must provide a continuous flow of data. But what are exactly the benefits of using Akka HTTP? What does it consist of? Should I build my new Web Application with it? Should I use it as a communication layer for my (micro)services? This talk is intended as an entry level talk and it will cover the following topics: Basics of Akka HTTP Booting up your server The high level DSL How to organize your routes How to deal with errors Common pitfalls and how to avoid them
