November meetup 2024

Hey everyone! It's been a while since our last TurkuMobile meetup, but we’re back!

I’m excited to announce that on the 7th of November, we’ll be hosting a meetup in HELSINKI. Take note, because this time we're stepping out of Turku! We’re making this one-time change thanks to the opportunity to hold the event at Integrify Academy, where I had the pleasure of studying for 4 months this summer as a Full Stack developer.

The presentations of the evening are as follows:

Designing for Profit: Why Mobile-First design is a key for success in 2025 (Tim Arifulin, Ekahau).

As a product designer with 5+ years of experience I am going to show you the essential principles of mobile-first design that enhance user experience and significantly boost engagement and conversion rates. You’ll gain actionable insights and best practices to create intuitive, high-performing web mobile apps. Bridging the Gap Between Development And Design (Vladislav Cherkasheninov, Taiste).

In "Bridging the Gap Between Development and Design" we’ll explore the challenges and solutions when translating design concepts into functional mobile apps using React Native. This talk will cover essential design tricks such as animations, handling pixels and sizes across devices, and implementing themes. We'll also dive into the common disconnect between designers' expectations (e.g., from Figma) and what can realistically be developed, providing practical strategies for effective communication and collaboration between developers and designers.

Here’s how you can find us:

Go to Lapuankatu 4 (Helsinki), where you’ll see a K-market. From there, turn right and head towards the big gate. Enter through the gate and continue until you see a door on your left. Come in and head up to the third floor.
