It's been a long time, hasn't it? Ruby is stable these days: a well known and mature set of tools. We know what to expect of Ruby and its ecosystem. Our convictions as to how one builds things in Ruby are already somewhat set. This is why the "Next-generation Ruby" tools are such an exciting challenger to the status quo:
• http://hanamirb.org/ - A web framework that prioritises the use of plain objects over the magic that Rails provides, while still giving you more to work with than Sinatra.
• http://dry-rb.org/ - Focused gems, built to solve specific architectural problems, taking inspiration from both functional programming and OO.
• http://rom-rb.org/ - A persistence toolkit that is NOT an ORM. We'd like to give you a taste of some of the things that can be done with this new breed of tools! The particular presentations are yet to be announced. Food, drinks and venue sponsored by Trifork.
