Lessons learned running JS meetups

I've been attending developer meetups for more than ten years and running them for five. I would like to share lessons learned, such as: which topics and formats work best, the pitfalls to avoid, behavior to encourage and goals to aim for. I’ll also discuss some ideas for the future and experiments that could make our communities even better.
