Locale codes for fun and profit

Languages on the internet are identified by locale codes: fi, es-419, zh-Hant, and many more. Let me show you why these matter more than you think, take you down some of their less familiar pathways, and share some of the work we're doing in defining a few that don't quite exist yet, like en-ZZ and zxx.
